More than half the homes in two Bronx neighborhoods infested with roaches, rats, mice: report... Roach exterminators should be in the rescue! A regular check-up of the area with a roach exterminator should be done to lessen and possibly eradicate the roaches.

Pesky pests plague more than half the homes in two Bronx neighborhoods.

Some 63% of residents in Kingsbridge Heights and Mosholu report that roaches, rats and mice run rampant in their homes on a daily basis, according to a new city Web site on health conditions.

"It's really disgusting. Some rats died in my heater," said Tia Ouch, 21, of Kingsbridge. "My friend's room downstairs is flooded with roaches. I've seen some in my clothes inside the drawers. I don't let my kid sit on the floor."

Andres Sosa, 50, also of Kingsbridge, said the basement of his building is inundated with rats in the fall, noting, "You call the exterminator, they kill all of them, and two weeks later the pests come back."

The new Health Department Web site shows that the Bronx and Brooklyn have the city's highest concentration of pests in residences.

In University Heights and Fordham in the Bronx and Brownsville and Crown Heights in Brooklyn, 55% of residents claim to see the pests every day.

"I see rats coming and going all over," said Carl Valbonard, 25, of Crown Heights. "It's dirty and I don't like it."

The neighborhoods with the fewest reported sightings include the upper East Side, much of Staten Island and the areas of Queens that border Long Island.

Comments: Roach extermination should not be taken lightly. A single operation of roach exterminators is not enough. Roach extermination should be done regularly and be monitored. Residents should hire a roach exterminator for this concern, immediately!
